An approach to preventing and/or treating disease by replacing, removing or introducing genes or otherwise manipulating genetic material. In some cases, the material can be injected with a genetic vaccination. In other cases the material is introduced through harmless bioengineered viruses that carry the therapeutic gene to the cell.
