Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is a jukebox musical that relates the life and career of Carole King, using songs that she wrote, often together with Gerry Goffin, and other contemporary songs by Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil, Phil Spector and others. The musical has a book by Douglas McGrath. It premiered on Broadway in 2014. Carole King works in the record business as a shy Jewish Brooklyn teenager, writing songs in the Brill Building. Her songs with lyricist husband Gerry Goffin find success, but she is a woman and mother working in a man's world.
