A professional who tends machine that removes bark (rough exterior of pearl-shell) from back of pearl button blanks, and levels back and face of blanks. Responsibilities include:

• Places blanks face-down on conveyor belt that feeds blanks between steel plate and abrasive wheel.
• Inverts blanks by hand, and repeats operation to level faces.
• May tend machine that inverts blanks automatically.
• May insert blank in holder of manually controlled machine and pull on leverage bar to force blank against abrasive wheel.
