exudative epidermitis

An acute, generalized dermatitis that occurs in young pigs. The causal agent is Staphylococcus hyicus and is inhibited by antibiotics. A vesicular-type virus may be a predisposing factor. Skin lesions develop and exude serum which, together with sebum, covers the body.
