• Creels spools of asbestos roving or wick on machines and threads material through guides, flyer, and around winding spindles.
• Starts machines and observes twisting to detect breaks in material.
• Pieces up broken roving ends, or ties broken wick ends.
• Doffs full package of wick and rope from machines.
