A professional who tends series of milling machines to machine crochet needles from bone blanks. Responsibilities include:

• Inserts end of blank into chuck of machine.
• Starts machine, and pushes lever to feed blank along milling cutter to turn it to cylindrical shape.
• Repeats operation on other machines to form ornamental handle and to cut hook in end of needle.
• Regulates speed of feed of blank to cutters, according to resistance felt in lever, to avoid burning or breaking blank.
